Good afternoon everyone!  as the school year gets rolling, a few reminders and expectations.  Everyone should have everything they need for class by now: binder, pencils, folder, glue, scissors, colored pencils and dividers.  We have started weekly homework, which will be assigned on Mondays and collected the following Monday.  The second set of homework questions were passed out today.  Tonight is our Back-To-School night, so all parents are welcome to come meet their students teachers. As always, please feel free to email me with any questions you have!

Hello parents! Our first Summative grade of the quarter in Science was a simple trifold assignment.  Students were asked to create a trifold advertisement for Newton's Laws, similar to what you would see at a rest area for local attractions.  this assignment was due last Friday, March 1, and I still have a large number of projects not turned in.  This counts as a test grade.  I have not put "NHI" in the grade book and on parent portal yet, so if there is no grade for this assignment, I have not received it.  Please take a moment to check and see if your child has turned this in, It is a simple assignment that can boost their grade, but of course it will be detrimental if it is counted as a zero. Thanks for all your help!

Students will be taking their Unit 7: Motion and Forces test on Friday March 8.  Review Guides were handed out today, and the answers can be found on the class webpage, in the documents folder.  Please look over the material by Friday - This test will include everything we have learned since Christmas, and will be the only Test on the 3rd quarter report card.

Welcome back to a short week everyone!  Today we reviewed Unit 1 material by playing Kahoot and discussing the phase change diagram.  Students will test tomorrow!  Their Review guide is also due Wednesday as well.  Please remind your student to complete the packet and study for the test!  On Thursday we will begin talking about atomic theory, and how it has evolved over time.  We will learn about the scientists and discoveries that shaped the theory. Math and Science Students will continue studying periodic table, how it is arranged, and patterns within it. We will have a quiz on this information on Friday.  They should also be turning in their Science Fair project ideas today, with revisions due as needed over the course of the week.

I hope everyone is enjoying their extra time to relax this week!  Wednesday and Thursday Cores 1-4 will be learning more about acids and bases, and doing a lab to explore these concepts.  When we come back Monday we will finish our write-ups and then discuss exothermic and endothermic reactions.  Core 5 will continue working on Counting atoms, and move to balancing equations next week. Now that our web pages are up and running, I will be posting at least weekly to update parents and students on our plans for the week, and posting quizzes and test on the calendar.  So please, check back frequently, or subscribe to the calendar for notifications!
