The Rippon National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a local chapter of the national organization (https://www.njhs.us/). Current members are 8th graders who have met the academic requirements and have been inducted into the NJHS at the end of their 7th grade year.  The NJHS sponsors service projects throughout the school year such as food drives, coat drives, or giving assistance or companionship to other groups in need.  We also hold fundraisers such as the Halloween Dance; these funds have been used for school beautification projects or donated to various non-profit organizations.  The NJHS is led by student officers elected by the membership and two staff advisers (Mrs. Everett, everetkm@pwcs.edu and Ms. Zarkauskas, zarkausl@pwcs.edu)

In order to be considered for membership, students must first meet the the scholarship requirement for their first year (6th grade) and 3 marking periods of their second year of middle school (7th grade).  ONLY seventh grade students with a grade point average of 3.750 or higher receive an application for consideration into the NJHS by April.   Students who submit a completed application with an accompanying essay by the published deadline are considered by a panel of at least four teachers.   The panel considers the pillars of the NJHS:   scholarship, character, citizenship, service, and leadership.   The induction ceremony is held in May and active membership begins in August when the inductees are 8th graders.   All NJHS members must complete at least 20 hours of community service in addition to school chapter activities.   Members communicate via a private Office 365 Outlook group.
