Spring Break is April 6 to 17.
Core 1 - Math 7X - We are finishing up the Geometric Transformation Unit on March 16. We will begin Unit 9: The Pythagorean Theorem and Composite Areas and Perimeter on Friday, March 17. The unit test will be next week on March 23rd or March 24th. We have two more units beyond these to complete before we start our review for the 8th grade Math SOL test scheduled for mid May. Keep watching and investing in your stock portfolio. The top 4 students will be invited to a Power Lunch at the end of the competition.

Core 2 and Core 3 Math 6- We are working on word problems with triangles and rectangles this week, and we will start the surface area and volume of rectangular prisms. The unit test will be given on March 20. The next unit is Measures of Center (Mean, Median, Mode) and Circle Graphs.
Also try links from this page:
the second larger box called computation has items for fractions.
Core 4 Math 6X - We will finish the unit on area, perimeter, surface area, and volume this week. The unit test will be given on Monday, March 20. The next unit is Measures of Center (Mean, Median, Mode) and Circle Graphs.
TESTS, Corrections, and RE-TESTS!!!
Tests are one way for students to show mastery on a topic. When grades are posted for a test, each SOL learning objective being assessed will receive a grade.
If students score a 69% or less on a learning objective, they will be asked to do corrections. Corrections are to be written on a separate sheet of paper. For each error, I want the student to do:
1. Solve for the correct answer. Show all work.
2. Complete the sentence, "I got this wrong because......."
3. Complete the sentence, "I learned......"
Students who complete this assignment thoroughly and completely will receive an A, and they will also be given the opportunity to re-test for the learning objective he or she did not do well previously. Re-take grades will re-place the previous grade. For extended students (6X and 7X), corrections are to be completed as homework and re-tests can be done in the morning from 7:15 AM to 8:00 AM or during silent sustained reading time during Core 3. Math 6 students will have class time to work on corrections and re-tests as needed.
