Welcome back after a lovely three-day-week! I hope you and/or your child enjoyed the snow days - I know my kids and I did!
This week will begin with two days slated for taking a practice SOL. The purpose of this activity is providing me with an accurate picture of where my students are in their learning. I will use this information to plan targeted skill enhancement that will take place beginning after we return from spring break.
After completing our practice test, we will be focusing on author's purpose. We will use a story in the Expert 21 text entitled "Dinosaur Named Dakota" where the author envisions the last day of a fossilized dinosaur! This story combines fiction and non-fiction in a creative way the kids love; ask your student about the story to find out more!
I have learned that our reading SOL will take place during the week of May 8. Each of my classes will test on a different day that week. Please plan on your child attending. If you know of a reason why your child will NOT be attendance, please let me know as soon as possible so an alternate testing date can be established.
As always, please feel free to contact me at any time. I can be reached via e-mail at GotterEK@pwcs.edu, or via phone at 703-491-2171. I look forward to hearing from you.
Have a great week!
