Week of November 9-21
All classes will be reviewing elements of plot diagram and various elements of fiction such as characterization and development, author's word choice, and connotation.
Word choice and connotation will also lead us into the next genre of Literature: Poetry. We will become familiar with types of figurative language, including simile, metaphor, hyperbole, and personification. Using figurative language we will explore how the author's perspective influences the colorful ways imagery can be delivered. We will also understand the symbolic tones and thoughts developed using figurative language. Other poetic devices will be identified and understood such as alliteration, onomatopoeia, assonance, and consonance. Repetition, lines, stanzas, verses are a few other terms with which we will dance around.
In the mean time we have to endure a benchmark that simulates an SOL and create a few projects to help conceptualize poetic forms.
