Dear Rippon Community,

I cannot tell you how big of an honor and privilege it is to be the new principal of Rippon Middle School. What I bring to the job is the passion and dedication to help kids thrive. My 23 years in the education profession, plus years in the United States Marine Corps before that, give me a unique perspective when it comes to the education of our youth. I am coming into the position left by Ms. Gail Stone, who has led this building to become an up and coming school, one where kids and parents compete to get into.

This year, Rippon is fully accredited and it is my goal to make this a trend. I would like to create a learning environment conducive to developing responsible members of society who are prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Our academic programs offer a rich variety of intervention and enrichment opportunities, from basic skills, to advanced classes in English, Social Studies, Math and Science. We are dedicated to the development of a professional learning communities, so that at Rippon, it is not ‘your’ students, not ‘my’ students; but is ‘our’ students!

We emphasize academic achievement and the importance of a broad spectrum of learning experiences. We have a myriad of sports and clubs that enrich the whole student.

At Rippon, there are a variety of strengths among students, families, and faculty. It is my hope that we will appreciate each other’s strengths and build one another up, which will lead us to a unified and strong community.

Finally, one thing I would really like to get across to our students is the importance of having goals. Without goals, we are like a ship without a rudder, tossed to and fro by the wind and waves of life that come our way. I will continue to stress this to students, parents and staff members alike.

I look forward to a great year!
