Dr. Griffin is excited to serve in our community where she resides.

Dr. Griffin is originally from Chesterfield County, Virginia and has 22 years of experience as an educator. She began her career as a music teacher in Montgomery County, MD. After moving back to Virginia, she continued to serve in neighboring school districts as Fine Arts department chair, MTSS Coordinator for Attendance, SEL/PBIS team leader, Peer and Community Mentor Coordinator, Great Beginnings Lead Teacher Mentor, Academy Coordinator, and Assistant Testing Coordinator.

Dr. Griffin is an experienced instructional leader. She has experience supporting teachers and teams, having worked with various departments. She has led professional development presentations including sessions on cultural responsiveness, equity, and professional coaching to fellow Fairfax County Supporting the Mission colleagues and executive administration. During her study in Harvard’s Data Wise certificate program, she, along with other educational leaders from around the country examined the relationship between data and equity

Dr. Griffin is an engaging leader. She is visible and approachable and understands that positive relationships with students will result in stronger relationships with their families. Dr. Griffin is excited about joining the Raider family and becoming a member of this phenomenal team. Personally, she is a mother to an amazing eleven old, London, and enjoys music, social gatherings, family events and traditions, traveling, reading, and creating future memories one moment at a time.

Dr. Griffin earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Howard University, Washington, D.C., Master of Educational Administration from Trinity University, Washington, D.C, Educational Specialists of Curriculum and Instruction and Doctorate of Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia.

Dr. Griffin is looking forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to continue fostering a warm, safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Nikkia Griffin as the new assistant principal at Rippon Middle School!
