Device Distribution 2021
Posted on 08/12/2021

All student laptops from last school year, including those that were used by students during the 2021 Summer School, must be returned to Rippon as soon as possible.

Each laptop issued for the 2021-22 school year has been updated and prepared for the new school year.  Students who do not return their laptop will discover that the devices will not work with the current updates and therefore will have delayed access to technology.

Students may continue to drop off their laptops to the main office Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Each student will be issued a school-issued laptop on the first day of school. The Device Loan Agreement must be completed BEFORE a laptop will be issued to the student. The Device Loan Agreement located in the 2021-2022 *New School Year Packet (Returning PWCS students)* in ParentVue.  There will be no distribution of student laptops prior to the school year.  Each laptop has been updated and is ready to provide students access to CANVAS and other important learning platforms.

We highly encourage each family to take advantage of the optional insurance being offered through a partnership with Securranty and Prince William County Public Schools.  This is a group policy discount that provides coverage for the HP Probook laptops that are issued to each student for accidental damage, flood, fire, vandalism and more.  Families will be responsible for any damage, including accidental damage, that occurs to student laptops and this insurance coverage can help provide peace of mind.

The link below includes more information about this insurance policy as well as a portal to purchase the insurance directly. We have also attached the insurance flyer for your review. The cost of this insurance is $32.95 for one year, per device.

*Virtual Only students can pickup laptops Monday August 16th, Wednesday August 18th, or Friday August 20th between 8am-2pm in the front office.*

Families can reset their password with the PWCS Password reset website. You will need your student’s username, student number, and birthdate. The username and student ID number can be found in ParentVue/StudentVue.

We look forward to our students returning to Rippon and are committed to providing our students with the technology they need to be successful.
