ABOUT RIPPON MIDDLE SCHOOL
Rippon Middle School occupies a tract of land that was once a part of an historical estate established in 1725 by Richard Blackburn of Rippon, Yorkshire, England. The school was built in 1963 and until 1996 it was both an elementary and a middle school.
COMMUNITIES SERVED
Rippon students reside in the Woodbridge and Dumfries areas. Some of the areas are historical and represent a deep rich past in Prince William County.
SPECIALTY PROGRAMS
Rippon Middle School is a specialty school for math and science. The school provides an ESOL program for students who speak other languages and a Signet program for gifted students.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
Enrichment programs at Rippon include after school SOL tutorials, math and reading intervention programs, computer labs to support science, social studies, language arts, math, and technology training along with modular labs for technology education and family and consumer science and a media-based library.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & SPORTS
In addition to the traditional interscholastic sports and clubs, Rippon supports a number of clubs and organizations such as National Junior Honor Society, Student Cooperative Association, Ecology Club, Literary Magazine, Art Club, Student Yearbook, and Step Team, along with others. Rippon is also the home of award-winning dramas and musical productions.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Parents are encouraged to become involved in the PTSO, and other yearly activities promoted during the school year. Rippon needs parent volunteers to help in many of our student activities.
