Cheer Tryout Information

During tryouts, each student will be evaluated in the following areas:
  • Motion technique
  • Facials and performance
  • Spirit and enthusiasm
  • Voice projection
  • Jumps
  • Cheer and dance performance
Cheerleaders selected for the squad will be expected to cheer at home football games, boys' basketball games, participate in pep rallies, and represent the school at other activities and events throughout the year. Team members may also be required to participate in fundraising events when needed.
Cheerleaders who make the team will have the opportunity to learn and perform stunts during the season. Each athlete will be carefully assigned a position based on their strengths and abilities. All stunt groups will begin by mastering basic-level stunts and will progressively advance to more difficult skills as they develop confidence, strength, and technique.
Attendance is EXTREMELY important. Cheerleading is a team sport, and when one member is absent, it affects the entire team. Missing practices or events can prevent stunt groups from practicing safely and progressing together. Because of this, a strict attendance policy will be enforced.
In addition to attendance, all cheerleaders are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, maintain appropriate behavior at school, and keep up with their academic responsibilities. These expectations must be met throughout the season in order to remain an active member of the cheer squad.

All athletes are to complete and upload their physical form into the Arbiter program and complete the concussion training using the link in Arbiter. Practices will run from the time students are released from class to 5:15. Parents picking up athletes should arrive in the back of the school, near the baseball field, by 5:15.
